About Iqra
“…And recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style.” (Al-Muzzammil: 4)
It is imperative on every Muslim to give due right to the book of Allah, the Quran, by reciting it in the correct and proper manner.
The Iqra course will enable participants to recite the Quran with accurate pronunciation, by applying the rules of tajweed. The students will each recite a portion and the teacher will listen and correct as it is being recited.
The teacher will aim to complete the recitation of the entire Quran by the end of the course. The recitation and correction will be done in a respectful and friendly manner so as not to make the student self-conscious of any shortcomings.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Quran will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Quran and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.”
[At-Tirmidhi]
