A glimpse on our reflections on the
Dawrah Ilmiyyah
“When Ustadh Abdur Rahmaan first let us in about the high-level details of the Dawrah Ilmiyyah, I immediately got very excited and began to think about how to make the required arrangements. Missing it was not an option for me, as I saw the programme to be a gift from Allah that you needed to go forth and receive. Practically, there were two main problems that I needed to overcome; my work and my family.
My family would have to be explained and reasoned with, as going to the Dawrah after a full day at work would leave practically nothing from my time in the weekdays. The other issue was work, which was situated in the far part of Dubai and ended at 6pm. If I came to the masjid instead of going home according to my normal timings, I would still miss more than half of the Dawrah and thus be unable to manage it.
As the first day of the Dawrah approched, I started to plan how to get there on time, where I would pray Maghrib, when I’d need to leave work, etc. I used to check Google Maps on the average traffic situation at the time I needed to go to the masjid, so that I was prepared accordingly. I spoke to my HR manager to allow me to leave an hour earlier for the duration of 2 weeks, which I would make up by spending an extra half hour at work for 4 weeks (2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the Dawrah).
Then Allah the One who is al Qadeer, al Lateef and al Kareem, blessed me by almost instantaneously completely removing all of the issues I was bracing myself for.
Due to the (normal) internal circumstances at work, I was allowed to work from home, freeing up my time to be able to comfortably attend the Dawrah. On the family side, Allah granted me a good situation in which both parties were equally at ease and happy.
The essence of my experience is that I was made to realize with a much stronger understanding: that Allah is able to do ALL things.
If you make the right intention for the right thing, and sincerely ask Allah to make it easy for you, and Trust Allah, then indeed, Allah makes ways for you that you never would have imagined.
As Allah said:
وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (i.e. Allah’s Religion – Islamic Monotheism).
And verily, Allah is with the Muhsinun (good doers).”

“Asalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Being an entrepreneur, when I first heard about the 15 days of Dawrah, my mind questioned me on the possibility of attending this course from the start to finish. I started with the intention to attend the full Dawrah but not completely but today Alhamdulillah with the Toufeeq of Allah me & my family of 3 young children (11,8,5) have attended all the days from start. I see a great difference on my young children who never had a chance to attend something like this in the English language. Me & my family have greatly benefited from the Kalemah essentials and was really looking forward for something more.
Today, after being in the class we have understood that if we as a family can put 4 hours for 15 days continuously then for sure we can do one hour every day of our life seeking knowledge. This class has increased the love for seeking knowledge in my children and they wait every single day to come for the Dawrah. I see their love for the Deen has increased ever since the Dawrah started.
We love the way the sheikh explains biography of scholars and the way he makes us connect to their lives. He has created an overwhelming respect for the people of knowledge. He has touched our hearts and made us believe that being connected to knowledge is being connected to Allah.
I would like thank Allah for blessing us to study under a great charismatic sheikh. I think it would be little if I talk about the sheikh. May Allah preserve him and make him among the most sincere ones. May Allah make him a reason for a lot of people to enter Jannah, Ameen.
At the best, this wouldn’t have happened without the pain & efforts of the Kalemah team. I sincerely look forward to have something like this every quarter of the year.
Some notes from my kids:
Child 1 – 11 years –
I love the sheikh and I really enjoy seeking knowledge now. I had a fear of memorizing Quran before but ever since sheikh spoke about the importance of memorizing I feel I can do it.
Child 2 – 8 years –
I love the sheikh and love to sit and write notes. I used to hate writing notes but today I love it.
Jazakallahu khayran”
